By staff: 9-year-old Dalit girl raped & murdered by a priest & 3 others in South-West Delhi. Her body was then cremated without the family’s consent. For how long do should we deny that casteism in India still exists? Crimes like this happen everyday in India, especially against women. The irony is that the priest admitted that he did it with 3 others friends. The girl is a member of the Dalits community, who are UNTOUCHABLE because they are not pure, according to the Hindu religion.
The 9-year-old girl went to get some water, but the crematorium’s priest grabbed her and forced her inside. They then proceeded to rape her with three of his friends. The girl eventually passed out, and they cremated her alive. Her parents were waiting for her to come back. But she never came back for over a half hour. So the father went to check on her, and that’s when the priest came and said that “she touched a electric cooler, and died on the spot from electrocution.” They further said that “we cremated her because she was burned very badly from the current that passed through her body.” The father was then given the girl’s leg and was told to leave. My question is, how can you cremate a 9-year-old like that? The father was even told to shut up by the priest otherwise bad rumors would be spread about them. Even with eyewitnesses that have recorded the entire event unfold, the parents aren’t in a position to do anything but cry.
After Hathras, this the worst event that could possibly happen in India. The only problem is that it happens practically every single day. Our system somehow fails to protect women and it’s somehow become normal to see women getting raped like this on a walk to get out. The government should be responsible to protect women like they said they would “Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao”
How????
